Dr. Charlie Haly

Heading the practice is Dr Charlie Haly, second generation Haly Dentist, who followed in his father’s footsteps (Dr. Michael Haly) when he began his studies in UCC. He has always been passionate about dentistry and his love of his career is very obvious when you visit his practice.

Having received an honours degree in Dentistry in 1995, he spends many weekends attending courses to ensure his practice keeps up to date on all the latest dental procedures. An honours degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology (complementing his dental skills) means he has an indepth knowledge of the many effects of different bacteria in the mouth.

Charlie played full back for the memorable Munster rugby team who beat Australia in 1992 in Musgrave Park – scoring 11 points on the day. He also studied at Oxford University where he received a ‘blue’ for his endeavors on the rugby pitch.

Charlie is trained in anti-wrinkle injections and fillers through the Allergen institute, he took over Dr Bill Ryan’s cosmetic clinic in 2017 and has completed courses in London with the Oris institute.

Dr. Mairead Browne

Mairead graduated with an Honours Degree in Dentistry from University College Cork. She joined Haly Dental Care in January 2012. Mairead continued her postgraduate training and took a position as a Senior House Officer in the Cork University Dental Hospital. During that time she gained experience in sedation treating nervous patients and on call emergency dentistry and was awarded membership of the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

She is president of the Munster branch of the Irish Dental Association and is a member of the Irish Dental Union Council. Most recently she was nominated by her patients and won the Munster Sensodyne Sensitive Dentist of the Year Award. She has completed training and is a provider of Six Month Smiles. She has a special interest in facial aesthetics and is studying for a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine at St Marys University in London. Haly Dental Care is delighted to have a highly qualified dentist in Dr. Mairead Browne as part of their team.

Dr. Browne has a great passion for what she does and enjoys all aspects of dentistry. She is also a member of the Cork Symphony Orchestra where she plays the violin, a passion of hers since she was a child. Mairead graduated with a distinction in her masters in Aesthetic medicine in 2019 from Queen Mary University London. She was also awarded a distinction on her thesis titled “The safety and efficancy of anti wrinkle injections use for the management of Bruxism & TMJ”

Dr. Muriel Mulhaire

Dr. Muriel Mulhaire

Dr. Mulhaire joined the Haly Dental Team in April 2014, having returned from Austalia. Muriel is a graduate of Cardiff University, Wales where she graduated in 2006 with an honours degree.

She then worked in the UK completing her vocational training on the Oxford Deanery. Muriel spent six years working in private practice in Australia. Here she kept up to date with the advancements in dentistry by taking part in continual professional development courses.

Muriel is a friendly and enthusiastic dentist. She ensures her patients feel at ease during their visits.

Ms. Emer Doody

Emer graduated from UCC in 2007 and has been working as part of the Haly Dental Team since August 2008. She had spent many years traveling prior to this. Emer aims to build lasting relationships with her patients by providing them with a comfortable experience. Emer is very keen on continuing educational development and attends courses regularly.

Ms. Alicia Dental Nurse

Alicia is a member of the Hygiene team since January 2016. A native of Cork City. Alicia graduated as a dental Hygienist from UCC. Alicia ensures that patients feel welcome and receive first class treatment with her friendly, warm and professional manner.

Amanda Carroll - Dental Hygienist

Amanda graduated from University College Cork with honours in Dental Hygiene in 2012. She joined the Haly Dental team in 2017, having returned from Australia. Amanda is dedicated to providing gentle hygiene services to our patients giving them the information and motivation to maintain and achieve good oral health and how to prevent periodontal diseases. She continues to attend professional development courses to ensure patients have the most up to date treatment and information.

Rebecca Pearson

Rebecca graduated for University College Cork in June 2015 and has been part of our team since June 2016. She is very passionate about building positive relationships with all patients. She enjoys developing her knowledge in oral hygiene by attending regular courses. Rebecca encourages nervous patients to attend as she has a very understanding rapport.

Jean O'Donnell (Hygienist)

Jean O’Donnell

Jean graduated from UCC in June 2019 with first class honours in Dental Hygiene. She was awarded with the Henry Schein Award for best overall clinical results as well as the Ann Holohan Scholar Award in her final year.  Jeans main aim when working with her patients both young and old, is to achieve the highest standards of oral care, with a symptom free, healthy and beautiful smile. Jean focuses a lot on educating her patients as prevention is key.

After seven years in the dental field Jean is capable of reassuring and alleviating patient fears while being empathetic and professional at all times. In doing this, Jean prides herself in building a strong rapport with each and everyone of her patients. Prior to studying Dental Hygiene, Jean spent a year undergoing a Certificate in oral health promotion in NUIG and a diploma in dental nursing which stemmed into her love and passion for her work today.

Kate McCarthy - Practice Manager

Kate is a qualified dental nurse with over nine years experience. Kate’s role as practice manager is to ensure the smooth operation of clinic and liaises with both the patients and dental staff to provide patients with a safe and comfortable experience during each visit. She is the heart of the operation, her calming personality sends a welcoming atmosphere to both patients and staff.

Roisin Hynes - Receptionist dental assistant

We were delighted to welcome Roisin to the team in June 2019. Roisin works part time at the practice contributing to both the reception and assisting the dentist in the surgery. Roisin’s friendly and bubbly personality is a welcoming experience to all patients as they enter the practice.

Ciara has been a part of the team since July 2014. Ciara is a mother of two making her first-class when it comes to a child’s first visit to our children’s surgery. Ciara also enjoys meeting new patients when we go on company visits as part of our Corporate Onsite Dental Screening Programme.

Leah joined the reception team in November 2017, with a keen interest in both admin and dental nursing. Leah is currently pursing her dental nursing career by completing the dental nursing course through UCC by night whilst working full time as Charlie’s nurse. Leah is valuable asset to our team.

Jade has been working as a dental nurse since 2017. She joined our practice shortly after she graduated from the dental nursing course in 2018. Jade has a very calming ability and has a fantastic way with all patients and staff. Jade works alongside Dr Muriel Mulhaire and ensures a smooth journey for the patients.

Sinead has been a member of the Haly Dental Care team since April 2017. Sinead graduated from dental nursing in University College Cork with Distinction and worked full time alongside Charlie for a number of years. She is currently studying dental hygiene and works part time with the practice. Her ability to multi-task under pressure makes very her valuable within out practice.

Katie works part time at the practice, she is currently undergoing the dental nursing course full time in Cork University Dental School and Hospital. Katie’s friendly personality ensures the patients have a pleasant experience.
